Recipe: 1940's Banana Ice Cream

1 1/2 cups top milk -- (whole milk)
2 eggs
1/2 cup sugar
1 Tbsp. cornstarch
1/8 tsp. salt
2 tsps. vanilla
1 cup whipping cream
3 bananas -- mashed
Scald milk. Separate eggs. Beat yolks and add sugar and cornstarch.
Combine this mixture with milk. Cook over water 20-25 minutes, stirring
occasionally. Cool. Beat egg whites until stiff. Add salt and fold into
cooked mixture. Add vanilla and bananas. Pour into refrigerator freezing
tray and chill to a heavy mush. Beat until fluffy. Whip cream and fold into
mixture. Return to tray and freeze.
Serves 6
