Recipe: All - American Chili

1 pound lean ground beef
1 15 ounce can red kidney beans, canned --
undrained
1 8 ounce can tomato sauce
1 tablespoon vinegar
2 tablespoons chili powder
2 tablespoons minced onion
1 teaspoon sugar
1/4 teaspoon garlic salt
chopped scallions -- if
desired
sour cream -- if desired
shredded cheddar cheese -- to
garnish

Cook meat in 3-quart saucepan over medium-high heat
4-5 minutes or until no longer pink, stirring
constantly. Drain off excess fat.

Stir in beans, tomato sauce, vinegar, chili powder,
minced onion, sugar if using, and garlic salt. Heat
just to boil, reduce heat immediately, cover, and
simmer 20 minutes, stirring occasionally.

Serve topped with sliced scallions and dairy sour
cream. Garnish with shredded Cheddar cheese.
