Recipe: 24 Hr Lettuce Salad

1 large head of lettuce
1/2 c. onion, sliced thin or finely chopped
1/4 c. celery, thinly sliced
1 (6 oz.) can waterchestnuts, drained and sliced or chopped
1 pkg. frozen peas, not thawed or cooked
2 c. mayonnaise
3 Tablespoons sugar
Parmesan cheese
4 hard boiled eggs, chopped fine
Bacon Bits
Shred lettuce into a large deep bowl. If you have a clear glass bowl, this makes a pretty layered salad. Sprinkle with onions, celery, & water chestnuts in layers. Break peas apart and sprinkle over while frozen. "Frost" with mayonnaise being sure to cover top completely to the edges. Sprinkle with sugar, then Parmesan cheese. Cover and refrigerate overnight. Before serving, top with chopped eggs and sprinkle with bacon bits. You probably won't have any leftovers:)
