Recipe: Finnish Cabbage

4 c. shredded cabbage
1/4 c. butter
1 onion, chopped
1 1/2 c. cooked rice
1 1/2 lbs. ground round
1 1/2 t. salt
1/4 t. pepper
1/8 t. allspice
1/2 c. buttered bread crumbs
1/2 c. milk
Blanch cabbage in 2 qts. boiling water
5 min. Drain. Heat butter in lg. skillet.
Sauté cabbage and onions until tender.
Set aside. Combine rice, beef, salt,
pepper and allspice. Place alternate
layers of meat and cabbage in buttered,
2 qt. baking dish, ending with meat.
Sprinkle evenly with crumbs. Using a
spoon handle, punch holes to bottom of
dish and pour milk over top. Bake in 350°
oven 1 hour. Makes 6 servings.
