2 to 2 1/2 lbs spareribs, cut in halves

Marinade/Barbecue Sauce:
1/2 cup chopped onions
2 green onions, sliced
1 tbsp butter or margarine
1 tbsp all-purpose flour
1 tbsp Dijon-style mustard
1 tbsp red wine vinegar
1 tbsp brown sugar
2 tbsp chili sauce
1 cup chicken broth

Wipe ribs with damp cloth. Cut between ribs into individual pieces.

Place ribs with meaty side up in a glass bowl or other dish.

Sauté onion and green onion in the butter for a few minutes until soft but
not brown.

Add remaining ingredients. Bring to a boil. Cook for 2 minutes, stirring.

Pour sauce over ribs, turning to coat well. Let stand in a cool place for
about 4 hours or at room temperature for about 2 hours.

Remove ribs.

Place ribs or preheated grill. Brush with sauce. Grill for 25 to 30 minutes,
basting occasionally with the sauce.

Serve as appetizers or as a light entree with buttered noodles or rice and a
tossed salad.
