Braised Liver and Onions

My mother made this regularly and I liked it! However, I've
never been able to convince my husband or kids to even try it.
The soup and flour make a nice gravy.

1 lb calves liver, cut into serving pieces
4 slices bacon
flour, salt and pepper
1 can condensed onion soup
1/4 cup water

Dredge liver pieces in flour.
Fry bacon until crisp; remove from skillet.
Brown liver well on both sides in bacon drippings adding salt and
pepper to taste. Add onion soup and water; cover and simmer
15 minutes (no longer) turning once.

Serve the gravy on the side; good with mashed potatoes.
