Recipe: Chocolate Sherry Bars

Chocolate Sherry Bars
4 oz. baking chocolate (unsweetened)
1 cup butter
4 eggs
2 cups sugar
1 cup flour
1/2 tsp. salt
1 tsp. vanilla
FILLING:
1/2 cup butter
4 cups powdered sugar
1/4 cup half-and-half
1/4 cup dry sherry
1 cup chopped pecans
TOPPING:
3 oz. semisweet chocolate bits
1-1/2 Tbs. water
2 Tbs. butter
Melt chocolate and butter over boiling water. Cool slightly. Beat
eggs until light. Gradually add sugar. Add chocolate mixture. Mix
flour and salt and add to mixture with vanilla. Beat 1 min. Pour into
greased, floured 14x10" or 13x9" pan and bake at 325 for 25 min. Cool.
FILLING: Beat butter and sugar until light. Gradually add cream and
sherry. Add pecans, spread over base and chill.
TOPPING: Combine chocolate bits, water, and butter and melt over
boiling water. Dribble over cookies. Refrigerate. When well chilled,
cut into bars.
