Recipe: Old Herefordshire Cider Cake

Old Herefordshire Cider Cake
8 Ounce Flour
4 Ounce Sugar
1/4 Pound Butter
2 Eggs
1/2 Grated nutmeg
1 Teacup of cider
1 Level Teaspoon baking soda
Beat the butter and sugar into a cream.
Add the eggs, well beaten, then the 4 oz of flour
sifted with the baking soda and nutmeg.
Pour over all the cider, beaten to a froth. Mix thoroughly.
Stir in remainder of the flour and mix well together.
Bake in a shallow, well-greased tin, for 45 minutes in a moderate oven.
