Pastries for a 2 crust pie
3 cups gooseberries
1½ cups sugar, divided
½ cup water
2 tablespoons flour
¼ teaspoon salt
½ teaspoon cloves, optional
1 teaspoon cinnamon, optional
1/8 teaspoon nutmeg, optional
Combine berries with 1 cup sugar and water. Cook till tender. Sift remaining sugar, with flour, salt and spice. Stir into cooked mixture. Place in pie shell. Cover with top crust. Bake 450° 10 minutes. 350° 25 minutes.
