Recipe: Apple Mystery Dessert With Cinnamon Hard Sauce

---Dessert:
3/4 cup Pillsbury all-purpose flour -- or unbleached
1 cup firmly packed brown sugar
1 1/2 teaspoons baking powder
1/2 teaspoon salt
1 dash mace
1 dash cinnamon
1 1/2 teaspoons vanilla
2 eggs
2 cups tart apples -- peeled & chopped
3/4 cup chopped walnuts
---Cinnamon Hard Sauce:
1/4 cup Butter, softened
1 cup Powdered sugar
1/2 teaspoon Cinnamon
1 dash Salt
1 tablespoon Milk
1 teaspoon Vanilla
Dessert: Heat oven to 350 F. Grease a 9 inch pie pan. Lightly spoon
flour into measuring cup; level off. In large bowl, combine flour,
brown sugar, baking powder ,1/2 teaspoon salt, mace and dash of
cinnamon; mix well. Stir in 1 1/2 teaspoon vanilla and eggs; blend
well. Add apples and walnuts; mix well. Pour into greased pan. Bake
at 350 F. for 20-40 minutes or until browned and firm to the touch.
Hard Sauce: In a small bowl, combine all hard sauce ingredients. Beat
at high speed until well blended. Shape into a 2" thick roll or press
into molds. Wrap in plastic wrap; refrigerate until firm. To serve,
cut hard sauce into slices or unmold; place a slice on each wedge of
dessert.
Makes 6-8 servings.
