Recipe: Country Ham Steak

a.. 1 T. butter
b.. 1 T. ginger -- fresh
c.. 1 small head cabbage -- coarsely chopped
d.. Dash of nutmeg
e.. Ham steak -- cut about 1" thick
f.. 2 T. maple syrup
Bring a quart of water to a boil. Add ham and bring back to a boil. Drain water and set ham aside. This will take some of the salt out of the ham. Preheat oven to 350. In skillet melt butter and sauté ginger. Add cabbage and sauté until crisp-tender, approximately 5 minutes. Stir in nutmeg. Spoon cabbage evenly into a baking dish. Place ham on top of cabbage; drizzle maple syrup over ham and cabbage. Bake in oven for 15-20 minutes or until warmed through. Serve immediately.
