Recipe: Almond - Sour Cream Cofffe Cake

2 cups all-purpose flour
2 teaspoons baking powder
1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
1/4 teaspoon salt
2 cups granulated sugar
1 cup (2 sticks) butter, softened
2 teaspoons almond extract
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
2 large eggs, at room temperature
1 cup sour cream
3/4 cup slivered almonds

Preheat the oven to 350°F. . Butter and flour a 13 x 9-inch baking pan ..
Sift the flour, baking powder, cinnamon, and salt into a medium bowl. . Beat
the butter, sugar, almond extract, and vanilla in a large bowl with an
electric mixer at medium speed until creamy .. Add the eggs, one at a time,
until just blended after each addition. . With mixer at low speed, gradually
beat in the dry ingredients, alternating with the sour cream .. Spoon the
batter into the prepared pan and sprinkle with the almonds .. Bake for 45-55
minutes, or until golden brown and a toothpick inserted into the center
comes out clean .. Cool the cake completely in the pan on a rack.
Makes one 13 x 9-inch cake· Prep: 20 min .. Cooking· 45-55 min.
