Recipe: Chocolate Spice Tree Trimming Cookies

2 c 12 oz semisweet chocolate
1 ts Flour
1/2 ts Salt
1 ts Cinnamon
1 ts Ginger
1/2 ts Ground cloves
1/4 c 1/2 stick margarine softened
1/4 c Light brown sugar packed
1/4 c Molasses
1/3 c Water
Colored icing in tubes
In microwave, cook 1 1/2 c of chocolate in md size bowl on HI for 1
min.;stir. Cook in add. 10-20 sec. intervals on HI, stirring until smooth;
cool to room temp. In md bowl, combine flour, baking soda salt, cinnamon,
ginger and cloves. In large mixing bowl, beat suagr and margarine until
creamy; beat in molasses and melted chocolate. Gradually add flour mixture
alternately with water, beasting until smooth. Divide dough in half. Cover;
chill for 1/2 hour or until firm. Roll 1/2 of doughto 1/4" thickness
between two sheets of waxed paper. Remove top sheet and cut into shapes. If
cookies are to decorate tree; make a hole at top of each cookie 1/4" from
top with a plastic straw. Place on ungreased cookie sheets. Repeat with
remaining dough. Bake in pre-heated 350 F. oven for 5-6 min. or until edges
are set but centers are still soft. Let stand 2 min; remove to wire racks
to cool completely. Thread cookies with ribbon ; if desired. Place
remaining chocolate in heavy duty plastic bag; seal shut. Nuke on HI 1 min.
Cut tiny corner from bag and pipe. Decorate cookies with chocolate and
colored icing. Makes about 3 dozen cookies.
