Recipe: Blackberry Cake

1 tsp. soda
1 tsp. baking powder
1 tsp. nutmeg
3 tsp. cinnamon
3 tsp. allspice
1 c. butter
1 c. butter milk
1&1/2 c. blackberry jam/preserves
2 c. sugar
3&1/2 c. cake flour
4 eggs
Cream sugar and butter first. Add eggs and cream thoroughly. Sift dry
ingredients together. Add dry ingredients and buttermilk alternately to
creamed mixture. Add jam. Mix everything together thoroughly. Bake in 4
layers in greased pan at 350 F for 20-25 min. Put layers together with
icing.
